Research undertaken by NAPIT has uncovered a shocking ignorance of Part P across the whole of the domestic market.
NAPIT presented almost 2000 homeowners with a list of works that should be notified to the Local Authority. Nearly 55% of respondents failed to realise that any of them needed certification and 50% of those homeowners who had actually installed at least one of the fixtures covered by Part P were unaware of the requirements.
NAPIT also spoke to electricians that were not members of a Competent Person Scheme. 30% were unable to explain the requirements.
