黑洞社区 green developments towards a zero carbon standard costs an additional 12.5%, according to research by CBRE Hamptons International.

Analysis of the property developer鈥檚 model green 12-storey, 50 unit housing development totalling 80 000 square feet, which includes features such as a combined heat and power system, natural ventilation and energy efficient appliances, reveals a green premium of 拢20.63 per square foot.

Using standard building costs of 拢162.65 per square foot, building a 650 ft2 flat costs 拢105 700. This represents an increased cost of 拢13 400.

Nick Jopling, managing director of CBREHI, launched the research at Think 07, the conference on sustainability and regeneration which featured Prince Charles and Al Gore.
