To replace two town centres

The face of Swindon will be dramatically different by 2016 when Amec will have completed its 拢300m Exchange project in the town centre. The New Swindon Company is overseeing a 拢1bn regeneration of the town and awarded Amec the contract to redevelop a 7.1 acre site. It will include a public square, 25,000m2 of retail and leisure space, 55,000m2 of offices and 450 residential units.

The 鈥淩otherhithe Renaissance鈥 began last year when Rotherham council appointed Liverpool-based developer Iliad to build a 拢6.3m five-storey apartment block on a former car park. This scheme, which began this month, forms part of the 拢30m plan to provide residential, retail and office developments alongside new public space by the River Don.
