Securitas Security Services officers working on the company鈥檚 Stena Ports contract at Stranraer in Scotland have uncovered a 40 kg haul of cannabis resin with a street value of 拢200,000, leading to commendations from the Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary and Certificates of Merit.

Securitas provides a combined solution for all Stena Line鈥檚 security requirements in the UK, including static guarding and Cash-in-Transit. The static guarding role is carried out at all Stena UK Ports including Holyhead, Belfast, Fleetwood and Fishguard 鈥 accommodating both passengers and freight. In line with the International Ship and Port Facilities Code, officers conduct searches of freight, on-foot passengers and coaches. The aim is to deny any organisation or persons the ability to move illegal arms, firearms or explosives through the Port area and on to vessels.

Stena Line鈥檚 Ports manager Ian Thompson is pictured here presenting the officers with tokens of the company鈥檚 appreciation. Ron Lea Securitas Security Services鈥 account manager on the contract 鈥 told Security Management Today: 鈥淭hese commendations are just reward for the tremendous commitment shown by all of our officers on the Stena contract.鈥
