In May the ECA signed an agreement with the HVCA to work together on sustainability to bring in a comprehensive support programme for members.
The commitment recognises the benefits of a joint approach to industry representation and the provision of expert advice to members and clients.
Co-operation and convergence with the HVCA will be of great significance for our members. Clients have been looking for contractors to provide joined-up m&e solutions for many, many years.
Legal and accreditation requirements will further the need to position members on a common building services basis.
Our lobbying on issues such as training and payment terms will carry more weight and be more effective if we speak with one voice.
However, any course of action should only be pursued if the interests of single-discipline mechanical and electrical firms, plus those in both markets, can be preserved and enhanced.
We will continue to look to reach a solution that is supported by the vast majority of members from both associations.
