John Hunt, formerly of Axima 黑洞社区 Services, and Stuart Lyon of MITIE Engineering Services (Scotland) have received HVCA Outstanding Service Awards.

In making the presentations, president Gareth Vaughan reminded his audience that the Outstanding Service Awards existed to recognise those individuals whose contribution to the activities of the Association had been positive and significant, but who had not necessarily received notable recognition for their efforts.

As a member of the Association鈥檚 Technical Committee for more than two decades, and its chairman from 1998 to 2003, John Hunt had made an enormous contribution to 鈥渢he library of specifications and good practice guides that have helped to establish HVCA as the key standards-setter across building services engineering,鈥� said Vaughan.

He continued: 鈥淗is membership of Council for five years from 1996 allowed him to bring his natural wisdom and long industry experience to bear on the wider issues of the day.鈥�

More recently, Hunt had served as a valuable member of the Heating and Ventilating Joint Safety Committee, assisting in its transformation into the more broadly-based Health, Safety and Environment Committee.

Vaughan recalled that, had things worked out differently, Stuart Lyon would have served as HVCA president in 2006/2007 and was therefore a serious contender for the title of 鈥渢he best president the Association never had鈥�.

鈥淎s chairman of the HVCA in Scotland, of the Association鈥檚 Education Committee and of the HVACR National Training Forum, and as a member of Council for over a decade, he demonstrated a deep and genuine commitment to quality, competence and professionalism,鈥� said Vaughan.

He added that Lyon remained 鈥渇ully committed to the interests of the building services engineering sector鈥� as chairman of Scottish CASEC, as vice chairman of SummitSkills, and as HVCA Scotland鈥檚 鈥渢raining champion鈥�.
