After much deliberation Tessa Jowell, the secretary of state for culture media and sport, announced the ‘final budget’ for the Olympics last month: £9.35bn.
The figure was broken down into various categories, but not the same as those provided by Jowell’s department in February (see CM, March) so it’s difficult to work out what’s what. The main figures are: £3.1bn for the Olympic Park (up from £2.375bn); £1.7bn for infrastructure (up from £1.044bn) and £2.7bn contingency.
