Scottish contractors to pay out 拢9,000 after 19-year-old labourer fell nearly 10m through factory roof

Two construction firms have been fined after a teenage worker fell nearly 10m through a factory roof.

TQR of Dalkeith, Scotland, had been contracted to carry out refurbishment of a roof in Bonnyrigg.

The work was subcontracted to David O'Neil who supplied a 19-year-old labourer to take on the job.

TQR pleaded guilty to breaching the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 at Edinburgh sheriff court, and was fined 拢6,000.

David O'Neil also pleaded guilty to breaching the act, and was fined 拢3,000.
