Government spending watchdog the National Audit Office is to investigate the cost of the building of Portcullis House, the 拢231m office building for MPs.
Liberal Democrat MP Norman Baker demanded an investigation in August after 黑洞社区 revealed that the building would cost 40% more than was originally budgeted for.
The NAO said it was normal practice to investigate major projects that involved large amounts of public money. The report is expected in Summer 2001.
