Firm to build 1,400 homes at site formerly used for Crossrail tunnelling
Ballymore has been chosen as the joint venture partner by Transport for London鈥檚 property company Places for London to redevelop the Limmo Peninsula near Canning Town.
Four firms were initially shortlisted with three returning tenders at the end of last year.
A preferred bidder was chosen this spring with Ballymore yesterday being confirmed as the winning firm for the work which will see 1,400 homes built on brownfield land. Around 40% have been earmarked as affordable.
The scheme includes 600m of river frontage and will also see a bridge built to connect the peninsula with Canning Town.
Places for London said the joint venture will also 鈥減rovide the opportunity for Ballymore to develop additional sites across east London鈥�.
The site was previously used for the construction of the Elizabeth line, providing the space for the tunnelling machines to be lowered in order to dig the railway鈥檚 tunnels.
