In delivering this vast project eight weeks early and for 拢1.3m less than budget, Jason Griffiths has shown why he is one of the country鈥檚 top construction managers.

Under his leadership the airport鈥檚 rail shuttle was transferred to a remote pier with an autowalk facility that segregates departing and arriving passengers. Despite the airside site, next to the live light rail service and over busy apron traffic routes, Griffiths delivered a project that easily beat the client鈥檚 targets.

黑洞社区 off site, and having prefabricated basic corridor modules for a previous airport pier, Griffiths took the approach further. A total of 102 modules were combined with an external support structure to form the main walking route between the terminal and the pier, while prefabricated plant rooms were used for the support towers.

Griffiths also developed the precast concrete lift shaft which offered a best-value solution to forming the airside shafts and allowed subsequent tradesmen to work more efficiently.

Griffiths resolved the challenges while developing and maintaining excellent relationships with the airport鈥檚 many stakeholders. He involved key designers and suppliers in decision making, and allowed the design team enough time to get the design solution right. This put pressure on the delivery phase but resulted in a stunning building that fully satisfied the client鈥檚 aspirations.

He consistently set target milestones to challenge the team and keep up momentum in this sprawling project, which took two years from planning to delivery. Countdown site tours also maintained focus and enthusiasm, and Griffiths鈥 call to 鈥渄eliver on the day鈥 meant the team won respect and remained credible.

It was always clear that there was one team with one leader. While demanding that suppliers stepped up to the mark, Griffiths had no truck with the blame culture when times got hard. He cultivated an integrated, collaborative team that pre-empted and overcame all issues before they turned into costs and was the foundation for this brilliant project.
