This award is open to mechanical or electrical contractors with an annual turnover of up to 拢50m.

Winner
JS Wright & Co
The judges were impressed with the financial figures submitted, which were regarded as 鈥渢he envy of the industry鈥. Profits have jumped 75% in the past three years, and in 2007 the company completed the biggest project in its 118-year history.
The judges admired this scheme, the Park Plaza County Hall hotel in London, because they considered it a difficult site to work on. The 拢4.6m project for Galliard Construction included installing ventilation and air-conditioning to 398 guest rooms, an atrium, restaurant and business centre. JS Wright was able to cut Galliard鈥檚 costs by about 10% by applying a series of value engineering techniques.
The Birmingham-based company, which has 110 staff, has set up an awards scheme to reward suppliers and subcontractors.

Its showcase project for the awards was an 8,300m2 office unit for Goodman at Uxbridge Business Park, where the challenge was to incorporate energy efficient design within the budget considerations of a speculative scheme.
