Electrical contractor T Clarke has announced a 4% drop in revenue and a 23% dip in profit before tax in its preliminary results for the year ended 31 December 2006.

Turnover was down to 拢186 million (2005: 拢194 m) while profit before tax fell to 拢6.57 million (2005: 拢8.55 m). Nevertheless, a confident T Clarke raised the final dividend to 7.35p (2005: 7p).

鈥淭his has been a challenging year for the group,鈥� said chief executive Pat Stanborough. 鈥淗owever, the future looks bright. Our major clients are busy and we have secured a very strong order book worth over 拢200 million. Many of our end-users are planning major expansion, which bodes well for the continued improvements in our markets.鈥�

The group鈥檚 London operations improved operating margins but there were disappointments in Scotland, Derby and East Anglia. Senior management changes have taken place and improved financial controls implemented.
