Fire Engineering Associates, based in Manchester, has been awarded an out-of-court settlement in excess of 拢250 000 against a director who resigned and transferred projects worth more than 拢500 000 to his new business interests.

The settlement, against Ian Andrew Moore of West Yorkshire, who left after taking multiple future contracts for underground car-park ventilation systems, includes assessed profit and legal costs.

It is the end of a three-and-a-half year dispute for FEA, which employed Moore as marketing director from 1997 to 2004.

He admitted liability in July 2006. A forensic accountant then determined FEA鈥檚 actual loss of profit at 拢197 000.

FEA director David Fenlon said: 鈥淭he exceptional amount of time spent on accountancy and legal issues has had a big impact on the company and me personally, as we were friends as well as business partners.鈥
